The 2015 Zinfandel, Scottsdale Vineyard, hails from a vineyard Harney Lane has been farming for years. In 2014 we were lucky enough to acquire the property and couldn’t wait to start producing wine from this wonderful old vineyard. With minimal manipulation, we were able to maintain the essence of this wonderful vineyard in this wine. The Scottsdale Vineyard showcases true wild berry Zinfandel flavors that are perfumed with notes of lilac, blue berry jam, and pepper spice. A moderately weighted wine on the palate, the fine grain tannins provide an exquisite finish to this elegant wine.
The 2015 vintage was the second year with a warmer than normal winter, and an earlier bud break and harvest date. Also, this vintage was characterized with lower than normal rainfall, which meant smaller berries with more concentration and character. Wine was fermented using a small portion of native yeast and inoculated yeast, and was aged mostly in neutral oak barrels.
