Garnet color with a ruby red rim and deep purple tint, Patriarch’s Promise offers an alluring nose of blackberry bramble, black olive and sage. Notes of baked plum and earthiness appear on the palate, providing plenty of structure for the long haul.
Planted over 50 years ago, Patriarch’s originates from a variety that was to become a star in Lodi’s wine grape growing history. However, many winemakers did not take the time needed to age this finicky wine and it was soon supplanted with other grape varieties. Harney Lane’s Patriarch George Mettler did not remove all of his vineyard, leaving a small patch that would become our Patriarch’s Promise. With attention to detail and time to age, this multi-vintage wine offers a unique and delicious finished product that remains a family secret!
“The Patriarch’s Promise is an exceptional wine that was the result of George Mettler’s (The Patriarch) desire to prove that a forgotten Lodi grape variety still had the potential to be a part of Lodi’s legacy as a world class wine producer.” -Chad Joseph, Winemaker
