A richly colored wine with seductive aromas of candied currant, red plum and star anise. The complexity of this non-vintage Primitivo showcases flavors of maraschino cherries, rustic cigar box and elegant hints of vanilla in its silky, lingering finish.
Planted in 2001, this vineyard sits just west of our Tasting Room. Ripening slightly early, with elongated clusters, Primitivo is an Italian Zinfandel clone that produces beautiful fruit, year after year.
This three vintage blend offers the concentration of the 2016, 2017 & 2018 vintages. Made in small batch lots, each lot was made using a hands-on punch down technique during winemaking. Natural fermentation was encouraged, enabling a true expression of the vineyard. All lots were kept separate before final the blending evaluation. Primitivo was barrel aged for 20 months in a mix of new and used oak barrels. Both New American and French barrels lend complexity to the final blend.
