Concentrated bramble berry, dark cherry and candied anise fruit are evident in the aroma of the 2014 Lizzy James Zinfandel. Spicy dark fruit and hints of cinnamon mocha create a finish full of flavor and richness. Delicious now but will benefit from an additional 2-3 years of cellaring.
Pairing Suggestions: Lizzy's bold spicy flavors make it a perfect pairing for homemade chili, slow cooked beef brisket, and pan roasted duck breast.
GOLD, 2017 SF International Wine Competition
Sourced exclusively from Lizzy James Old Vine Zinfandel Vineyard that was planted in 1904. Vineyard is located approximately 2 miles north of the Harney Lane Tasting Room and is characterized by extremely sandy soils. This 2014 vintage was an amazing year for the Lizzy James Zinfandel Vineyard. This vintage was marked by an early harvest with yields lower than normal due to the warm, dry spring, which resulted in more concentration and higher natural acidity.
