Ripening slightly early with an elongated cluster, the Primitivo produces beautiful fruit, year after year. Fruit notes of dark cherry, raspberry jam and huckleberry are laced with savory hints of spice and pepper. Bright, fleshy fruit hits the palate with a hint of tart acidity that is balanced by the complexity of multiple aged vintages. The Primitivo offers a soft, but distinct finish that lingers pleasantly until the next sip.
DOUBLE GOLD, 2018 California Zinfandel Challenge
This three vintage blend offers the depth of the 2014, 2015 and 2016 vintages. These three vintages were more fruit forward and concentrated due to a warmer winter as well as limited amounts of rainfall received during these draught years. Created in small lots using a “hands on” punch down technique, all lots were kept separate until final blending evaluation. The Lot 18 Primitivo was aged for 20 months in a blend of neutral and new oak barrels.
