2016 was an amazing year for a concentrated version of Lizzy James Zinfandel. Earlier harvest due to lower rainfall, low yields and perfect balance were key features of this classic vintage. The vineyard was quick to ripen with good natural acidity and dark color. Smaller berries yielded more color and fruit intensity for a bolder style in 2016.
Dark rich color leads the nose to a bouquet of exotic berries, floral fruit and a liqueur-like-intensity of huckleberry and cassis. Ripe aromatics segway into juicy acidity and supple tannins, ending with a round, pillowy soft finish layered with jammy fruit.
